What is lodge style accommodation?
Smaller than hotels, ski lodges typically have about 10 to 20 rooms.
A lodge experience is quite different to that of a hotel or an apartment
style holiday. Lodges commonly include breakfast or half board (bed,
breakfast and dinner) in their tariff. Lodges are often hosted. The Lodge
Host provides an invaluable source of information on the resort and the
surrounding region. Guest rooms tend to be comfortable and simple.
Unlike apartment style accommodation, there are no guest cooking
facilities in the bedrooms. Instead hearty meals are prepared and served
by the Lodge Cook and mealtimes are a relaxed friendly experience.
Unlike a hotel stay, there are no televisions in the bedrooms, so guests
enjoy mingling in common rooms, sharing stories and a drink at the
end of the day. Sometimes guests will arrange to ski together during
Your lodge hosts
Valhalla Lodge is an Australian family owned lodge. To offer you the
best possible holiday experience, we like to share the hosting at Valhalla
between our Lodge Manager, the owner family and our Lodge Staff. By
having different hosts, you will be able to enjoy a different knowledge
base and different perspectives. Some of us are skiers, some are
boarders and some enjoy cross country skiing. Some like fly fishing and
some enjoy hiking and travelling. We are located within a national park
and we are passionate about our Australian wildlife, heritage and
environment. When the family is in, they will typically join you for cheese
platter, dinner and breakfast. Our staff are always approachable. They
live here season after season and are able to give you the best advise
on where to ski in the conditions presented on the day etc.
