Kosciuszko is the largest National Park in NSW covering over 670,000 hectares. It abounds in natural beauty containing the famous Snowy River, the NSW ski fields, spectacular caves and gorges and the highest mountain on the Australian mainland.
There are nine wilderness areas and the alpine and sub-alpine areas have plant species that are found nowhere else in the world. Kosciuszko is home to the rare mountain pygmy possum and corroboree frog. Listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Kosciuszko National Park is internationally recognised for its significant natural heritage.
Perisher Ski Resort is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. 7 mountain peaks, 1,245 hectares of skiable area and about 50 ski lifts and tows. There are 4 interlinking resorts, Perisher, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and Blue Cow. Typically the ski lifts operate from june to October long weekends between 8:30am and 5pm.
There are also over 100 kilometres of cross country trails for you to enjoy, groomed, undulating and sheltered trails. What's more, the Nordic Shelter and marked cross country tracks are right across from Valhalla Lodge!
Step outside the lodge, clip in and enjoy the quick downhill run to the footbridge at the Perisher Centre. From here you have access to the Village 8 Express, Mitchell T-bar, Perisher Ski School and the Tom Thumb beginners area. There is plenty of varying terrain to explore, ask our staff for their recommendation on the best spots in the conditions presented on the day.
After your done, if your too tired to walk, take the easy way home with a complimentary oversnow transfer.
If you are unable to ski out due to conditions or ability, then it is an easy short downhill walk or you can book an oversnow taxi at own expense.
Top off a great day with more on snow fun. During ski season, we are a snowbound lodge, subject to snow conditions. There is still plenty of snow action available after the lifts close.
