Shnilly says "If you love snow and Perisher then this is the place you will want to stay. I have stayed at lots of lodges in Perisher and this is by far the most comfortable lodge I have stayed at." tripadvisor 16/9/17

SarahQ says "My friend and I had a magical weekend at Valhalla. Food was great, other lodge guests great entertainment and location couldn't have been better. A one minute ski down to the lifts in the morning and beautiful views over Perisher Valley. We will definitely be back" tripadvisor 7/8/17

  • Amazing location. It's so peaceful and particularly magical in snow season. No snowmaker noise up here but yet so close to the action. A quick 2 minute ski to the footbridge and the marked cross country tracks are practically on our door step. Our views are exceptional. The sunsets are breathtaking and you can see the Front Valley fireworks from inside the lodge.

  • The food! Ski lodge style menu; hearty, wholesome and yummy! OMG - Amanda's amazing cooking! Her desserts are simply to die for and she makes the most delicious home-made soups! We serve a changing 3 course set menu each night, which is displayed for you at breakfast. You just sit on down at the table at 7pm and the meal unfolds.

  • Small numbers, but big spaces. Maximum 30 people in-house overnight. There are no walk through traffic or public patrons. We have three separate communal spaces so you will have plenty of room to hang out and admire the views.

  • Après by the fireside! We serve a cheese platter at 5pm each afternoon in our spacious lodge by the fire. After an epic day in the Snowy Mountains you will sit back with fellow guests, swapping stories and having a laugh as you soak up the spectacular panoramic views and breathtaking sunsets. It's a really great way to unwind and a real highlight for many of our guests! Actually I think everyone looks forward to cheese platter!

  • Licensed premises. We have a wide selection of reasonably priced drinks set to cover most tastes and budgets. If there is something you particularly like to drink just ask us and we will do our best to stock it for your stay. Our staff waiter serve drinks so guests and particularly families feel at ease in all of our common areas while enjoying the social alpine ambiance, but without the physical reminder of a bar.

  • Our staff. We have friendly approachable live-in staff who have loads of hospitality experience and on mountain/ Perisher Resort knowledge. Our on-site Lodge Manager, Kai, has been with us for many years but is still really enthusiastic about Valhalla Lodge and in making sure that you, our guests, feel welcome.

  • After ski oversnow transfer. Everyone loves this. Top off a busy day with an easy ride home. We use Hans Oversnow which gives you the flexibility of returning at a time that suits you between 3:30 and 5:30pm each day.

  • Relax and unwind. No tvs in our guest rooms means that pretty much everyone comes down to the common areas for a chat and a laugh about their days adventures. We do have a tv room and wifi so you are not complete technology free, but it's a start.

  • 6pm kids dinner option. This means you can have the kids eat early on a nutritious 2 course kid friendly meal (main plus ice cream) before setting them up in the adjoining TV room with a DVD or game so you can dine as an adult at 7pm. Note that babysitting is not included, but it can make for a far more relaxing and enjoyable mealtime for both the kids and their parents!

Smaller than hotels, ski lodges typically have about 10 to 20 rooms. Staying at an alpine lodge is quite a different experience to staying in a hotel or apartment. Lodges are often hosted. The Lodge Host provides an invaluable source of information on the resort and the surrounding region.

Unlike apartment style accommodation, there are no cooking facilities in the bedrooms. Instead hearty meals are prepared and served by the Lodge Cook and mealtimes are a relaxed, friendly and social experience. Lodges commonly include breakfast or half board (bed, breakfast, dinner) in their tariff.

Guest rooms tend to be comfortable and simple. Unlike a hotel, there are no televisions in the bedrooms, instead guests enjoy mingling in common rooms, sharing stories and a drink at the end of the day. Sometimes like-minded guests will arrange to ski together during their stay.
